IVEY BUILDS is a collaborative, annual student-led initiative whose activities bring the Richard Ivey School of Business' mission statement into action.
Last year, we partnered with Habitat for Humanity and built a house for a disadvantaged family in the London Community. We hosted a conference about corporate social responsibility (CSR) with Key Note speakers such as Ralph Nader, Avi Friedman and Stephen Lewis.
On April 21, 2006 at the London Convention Center, IVEY BUILDS will host a national conference with key note addresses from distinguished political and corporate leaders. Our theme of "Crisis Leadership" is particularly appropriate in a time of corporate crises, heightened security threats, and growing number of natural calamities.
We have invited distinguished leaders from politics, business and academic life to address the Crisis Leadership theme. These leaders will speak of their personal experiences and how they managed crises they faced. The topics we have identified within the theme include:
- Reputation Management amd Media Handling
- Internal and external Crisis Communication
- Crisis Management and Business Continuity
- Preparation and Crisis Readiness
The value proposition of the Conference is to educate our guests on the importance of crisis management planning and the need to incorporate Crisis Leadership into business strategy.
Our key note speakers, who have faced a variety of crises in their career, will seek to impart key lessons learnt and key leadership skills exercised. The Conference is a peerless venue to learn of the best leadership practices and strategic planning which could be put into place to ease the difficulty of a crisis situation. The breakout speakers will address means of dealing with crises with both internal stakeholders such as employees and external stakeholders, such as stockholders, financial markets and regulatory authorities.
The Conference promises to present an excellent opportunity for all guests to network with their peers and experts, leading to knowledge sharing and building relationships which could yield long term gains.
